Praggnanandhaa played the Tata Steel Masters in 2022 and did quite well. He did better this year (2023) in his 2nd appearance at a super tournament. The 17-year-old from Chennai was in his element in the first half as he raced to 4.5/7 and was vying for the top spot. He beat Ding Liren and Jorden van Foreest and draws against Anish Giri, Nodirbek Abdusattorov. But then the youngster lost 3 games in the next 4 rounds. And that upset his rhythm. But what was commendable was the fact that he ended the tournament with two solid draws against two of the best players in the world – Magnus Carlsen and Wesley So. We interview Pragg and ask him about some of the decisions he made in the tournament, what went right, what went wrong and what is it that we all can learn from his Wijk Aan Zee experience!
