Ilamparthi played an intense final round game to beat Filip Magold from Romania to become the under-14 World Champion. The youngster scored 9.5/11 and pumped up his rating by 114 Elo points. He is now knocking on the doors of 2400 with a live rating of 2383.
In this video IM Sagar Shah analyzes the crazy final round encounter of Ilamparthi. He also tells the story of how Ilamparthi has risen up the ranks! A lot of people have contributed to his growth and among it are also many members of the ChessBase India YouTube channel. A big thanks to each one of you, especially Krunal Parmar, who gifted a laptop to the youngster.
After his victory, we contacted Anish Giri, who had donated Rs.2 lakh (part of his death match prize money) to the HelpChess Foundation towards a talented Indian youngster and we asked him if we could give it to Ilamparthi. Anish readily agreed!
