“With my performance at the Olympiad, I have set the bar quite high for myself” – Gukesh

Gukesh drew his 8th round game at the WR Chess Masters 2023 against Jan Krzysztof Duda. It was a very complex Petroff where Gukesh went for a line that was popularized by Vishy Anand. He got a great position with an unusual knight manoeuvre. But soon the game ended in a draw. We ask Gukesh about what he thinks went wrong and how he could have improved. As always it is a pleasure to hear Gukesh’s deep calculations and chess understanding. With this draw, Gukesh leads the event with Aronian with 5.0/8 and it’s amazing that they both are up against each other for the title clash.
