A helpmate is a type of chess problem where both sides cooperate to achieve the goal of mating Black. In a helpmate in n moves, Black moves first, then White. In this video, Julia Vysotska, FIDE Master in Chess Composition and Latvian Delegate to the World Federation for Chess Composition (WFCC), explains one of her first compositions: a helpmate in 2 with two solutions. Accompanying her is the current president of the WFCC, Marjan Kovacevic, a well-known composer and solver himself who holds Grandmaster titles in both disciplines.
