Vaishali becomes the 84th GM of India, Pragg and Vaishali first ever brother sister duo to be GMs

Vaishali won her second round game at the Ellobregat Open 2023 and with that she has managed to cross the rating threshold of 2500. She already had 3 GM norms in her bag. So this result made her the 84th GM of India and the 3rd ever Indian woman to achieve the GM title! Pragg and Vaishali also become the first ever brother-sister duo in the history of chess to both become GMs. They will also play the Candidates in April 2024. It’s a big moment for Indian chess! A big congratulations to Vaishali for all her achievements. She is now world no.11 and India no.2 surpassing Harika.
