Dr. Vinod Puri, who specializes as a doctor in stomach issues, met Vishy Anand at the FIDE Candidates 2024 after a gap of 35+ years! That’s because he played in 3 World Junior Championships with Vishy Anand in 1985 (Sharjah), 1986 (Gausdal) and 1987 (Baguio). Vinod was the Canadian National Junior Champion and one of the finest players in the country. We speak to him as he fondly remembers the wonderful moments which he spent with Vishy back in the 80s and also tells us about the impact that Anand has had on Indian chess.
