This is why Magnus is the ENDGAME GOAT – Nepo vs Magnus – Tech Mahindra Global Chess League

The Tech Mahindra Global Chess League 2023 is a 6-team double round-robin tournament held from the 22nd of June to the 2nd of July in Dubai. The total prize pool is $1,000,000.

Format
The teams consist of six players. Each team has one icon (board 1), two male players (boards 2 and 3), two female players (boards 4 and 5), and a junior (board 6). See the team lists for full rosters. They compete on six boards against another team simultaneously. All players from the same team will play with the same colour in a match. There are 5 days consisting of 2 matches, and 5 days consisting of 4 matches.

Game and Match Points
The Game Points (GP) are awarded in the following way: a win with black pieces is worth of 4 GP, a win with white pieces is worth of 3 GP, a draw is worth of 1 GP, and a loss is worth of 0 GP. The Match Points (MP) are awarded in the following way: 3 MP to the team that scores more GP than their opponent, 1 MP to the team that scores the same GP as their opponent, and 0 MP to the team that scores fewer GP than their opponent. The two teams with the most MP qualify to the Final (the first three tie-breaks are GP, Direct Encounter, and Extended Sonneborn-Berger). The Final is a best-of-2 match. If tied, a blitz playoff shall take place.

Time control
The time control is 15 minutes with a 10-second increment beginning from move one. The players cannot draw a game by agreement before 30 moves each have been made.

(4/4) On another note I could do with some tips on how to get a good sleep. It seems like I am a fully fledged insomniac. πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«
I was in bed at 1am last night but didn't even manage to get 1 minutes sleep after tossing and turning all night. Been awake for about 40 hours now. 😱

(3/4) I missed one very likely obvious winning move.
Here I played Bg2? but I should just play Qh6!
For some reason I had missed ...Qxh6 Bxh6 ...Nxc3 a3! Which is game over.
In the end I lost πŸ˜” after Johann played excellently.
