We met Roman Shogdzhiev first in Uzbekistan for World Rapid and Blitz 2023 when the boy was just 8 years old. The youngster had a FIDE rating of 1900 Elo, but you could already see that his play held a lot of promise! In the next two years the boy has really surpassed all expectations and has become the youngest IM in the world at the age of 10 years, 3 months and 21 days. Roman now has a FIDE rating in classical chess of 2402! We speak to Roman in this interview as his mother Saglara tries to help him with some answers in English. The boy shows us one of his favourite games and we also ask him to solve a very tough study.
