It’s hard to think of a more beloved and bedeviled chess combination than that played in my number one best game of the 1930s. The finishing combination has been reprinted a nearly infinite number of times, but WHERE was the game played? Mostly it is known as “Ortueta vs. Sanz, 1933”, but the game “Tylkowski vs. Wojciehowski, 1931” predates it, and BOTH games have questions about their legitimacy. Whatever the case, I think we can all agree, the finish is simply marvelous!
