The NEW Generation is UNSTOPPABLE!! – Nodirbek Abdusattorov vs Fabiano Caruana – Chesskid Cup 2023

The ChessKid Cup 2023 will be held from the 22nd of May to the 26th on chess.com. The tournament is the 3rd event of the Champions Chess Tour – a series of elite online tournaments with a prize pool of $2,000,000.

Format
A Play-in event is held on May 1st, where qualifiers will be trying to clinch a spot in one of the three main divisions – 1, 2 and 3. Hikaru Nakamura, Fabiano Caruana, and Nodirbek Abdusattorov are seeded directly into division 1 due to their performance in Chessable Masters. The Play-in will be held as a 9-round Swiss tournament followed by a knockout match.

The main tournament is held from 22nd of May to the 26th. In each division, the format is a double-elimination tournament. Division 1 has 8 players, Division 2 has 16 players, and Division 3 has 32 players. In the Winners Bracket, each match is a best-of-4 match. In the Losers Bracket, each match is a best-of-2 match. A bidding armageddon game with a 15-minute base time is used as a tiebreaker. The winner of the main knockout stage will then face the winner of the Losers Bracket in best-of-4-game Grandfinal. If the contender from the Losers Bracket wins, a three-game tiebreak stage known as the Grand Final Reset will then be held to determine the eventual winner.

Time Control
Time control for the Play-in is 10 minutes for the entire game with a 2-second increment beginning from move 1. Time control for the Main tournament is 15 minutes for the entire game with a 3-second increment beginning from move 1.

(4/4) On another note I could do with some tips on how to get a good sleep. It seems like I am a fully fledged insomniac. 😵‍💫
I was in bed at 1am last night but didn't even manage to get 1 minutes sleep after tossing and turning all night. Been awake for about 40 hours now. 😱

(3/4) I missed one very likely obvious winning move.
Here I played Bg2? but I should just play Qh6!
For some reason I had missed ...Qxh6 Bxh6 ...Nxc3 a3! Which is game over.
In the end I lost 😔 after Johann played excellently.
