Very rarely do you see all the players at an event wearing a heart rate monitor and the heart rate being broadcast on the livestream. This happened at the Tata Steel Chess India 2022 and it was possible because of the efforts of one man – Ashwin Subramanian.
Better known as the “Heart Rate Guy” Ashwin worked extremely hard to ensure that accurate heart rate of all the chess players was reflected to the viewers.
How was this made possible? We speak to Ashwin at the end of the Tata Steel Chess India 2022. Get to understand the history, the technology behind this idea and how this can be a valuable addition to chess broadcasting.
Special thanks to Shashwat Mishra for ensuring that the tech behind this works well.
