This stream is all about Tykhon Cherniaiev. Meet this young prodigy from Ukraine. Born in 2010, Tykhon has an Elo of 2209. The boy is a prodigy and is a star in Ukraine. He started beating International Masters at the age of 8. He became the under-10 world rapid and blitz champion when he was just 8. He won Ukraine’s award for Miracle child award in 2019. Tykhon is so good at blitz that in 2020 at the age of 11, he won the under-20 Ukrainian blitz title and at the same age he also won the blitz title in men! Tykhon is a well-known chess streamer (at just 12!) and streams on Twitch as well as YouTube.
Tykhon’s life was going steady and strong in Ukraine. He was dubbed as the future champion. However, all of this changed in the last couple of months. He lived in the city of Kharkiv in Ukraine, which came under the attack from the Russian troops. Tykhon had to escape with his mother, sister and grandmother. His father is still in Kharkiv fighting the war. The family somehow managed to reach the Slovakian border and then made their way to Germany where ChessBase has supported them.
Currently living in ChessBase’s Hamburg apartment, Tykhon is slowly getting his life back on track. He has been enrolled in an elite school, his chess training has restarted and he is taking part in tournaments once again. But the family does wonder sometimes, how did everything change so soon!
Today we will know more about “The Amazing Tykhon!” and how he is so good! We will have ChessBase’s co-founder Frederic Friedel in the stream. Also joining in would be Indian youngsters GM Arjun Erigaisi and GM Nihal Sarin and GM Leon Mendonca! I am sure spending time with them will inspire Tykhon future in his chess journey.
