The Barry Attack (1.d4 Nf6 2.Nf3 g6 3.Nc3 d5 4.Bf4) is often characterized by a swift assault with e2-e3, Bf1-e2, Nf3-e5, and h2-h4. Here I adopt a move order favored by GM Mark Hebden with 5.Qd2, which seems to be aiming to swap the dark-square bishops in Yugoslav Dragon fashion with Bf4-h6. Instead, both sides castle short and the action shifts to the queenside and center. I err around move 14 and do my best to shift in to “Scandi Swindler” mode!
