Born in 2005, Rakshitta Ravi is just 17 years old. But she is already entered the big league of chess by becoming a WGM. This she did when she scored her final WGM norm at the 1st Saturday tournament in Budapest, Hungary. Rakshitta not only scored her final WGM norm, she also achieved her maiden IM norm by beating GM Vasilios Kotronias, GM Sahaj Grover and IM Ilamparthi AR.
The youngster is a big fighter on the chess board and in life. She had not given an exam since 5th grade as she was busy with her chess. But when the pandemic struck, she decided to give her 10th board exams. This meant that she had to study everything that she had missed for 5 years, in just 1 year. She managed to do that and scored 93% marks in her exams.
In 2019, Rakshitta had an Elo of 2322. She then dropped down to 2111 in 2022. What happened? She speaks about it in this interview. Within a year she managed to pick herself back and is now back to where she belongs – 2302. How did Rakshitta manage to overcome her psychological barriers?
