The inaugural first move of the FIDE World Chess Championship in Singapore was done by Sir Demis Hassabis the Co-founder and CEO of Google DeepMind, a leading AI research organization that created AlphaZero. He is also a FIDE Candidate Master, once the 2nd highest ranked player in the world under 14 after Judit Polgar. Demis was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry this year for developing AlphaFold, a groundbreaking AI system that predicts the 3D structure of proteins from their amino acid sequences.
