Rook endgames can be tricky and when you are down a pawn it can be difficult to hold. This is the reason why it is always recommended to learn endgames in great depth. At the World Blitz Championship, 2022 GM Nikita Petrov (2531) faced Netherlands no.2 GM Jorden Van Foreest (2663). Both sides tried to create some chances but the game shifted gears during the last few seconds. It was a Rook endgame and Jorden lost a pawn and is now a pawn down. Can he manage to hold the game?
