Nailing Jelly to a Wall! – Magnus Carlsen vs Shakhriyar Mamedyarov – FIDE Rapid&Blitz Team Chess

The FIDE World Rapid Team Championship 2024 is a 12-round Swiss for teams, held from the 2nd to the 4th of August in Astana, Kazakhstan, featuring Magnus Carlsen, Ding Liren, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Ju Wenjun and many more.

Time control is 15 minutes for the entire game, with a 10-second increment from move 1.

Matches are played on 6 boards. Each team is required to have at least 1 female player and 1 amateur player.

For each match the winning team gets 2 points, in case of a draw both teams get 1 point and the losing team gets 0 points.

The team with the highest overall score is crowned World Rapid Team Champion.

I was in bed at 1am last night but didn't even manage to get 1 minutes sleep after tossing and turning all night. Been awake for about 40 hours now. 😱

(3/4) I missed one very likely obvious winning move.
Here I played Bg2? but I should just play Qh6!
For some reason I had missed ...Qxh6 Bxh6 ...Nxc3 a3! Which is game over.
In the end I lost πŸ˜” after Johann played excellently.
