“My boss has asked me to play good chess!” – Nigel Short on his match with Raunak

Nigel Short is an absolute chess legend. He has played for the World Championship Match in 1993 against Garry Kasparov. Having the experience of facing the best in the business and playing many matches, he is now up against the young and talented Indian youngster Raunak Sadhwani at the Maharashtra Chess Festival 2023. In this interview with Nigel we speak about his mindset for the match, how he got a leave from his full-time FIDE job, travelling 140+ countries and what makes India special for him.
