The Casablanca Chess 2024 is a 4-player double round-robin tournament, held on the 18th and 19th of May in Casablanca, Morocco.
The event features four of world’s strongest grandmasters in Magnus Carlsen, Hikaru Nakamura, Viswanathan Anand and Bassem Amin to play the new Casablanca chess variant.
The variant starts with a position from the opening phase of a historical game, where both sides have roughly equal evaluation. The players receive scoresheets of this position and have two minutes to set it up on the board before the clock starts running.
Time control is 15 minutes for the entire game with a 10-second increment from move 1.
