As I was enjoying my tall iced coffee from Starbucks this morning, an email hit my inbox. It was from a student, and he attached a recent 15+10 game he played against a higher-rated player. Though he was proud of the game, he was curious as to how to improve his defensive technique on the worse side of a knight vs. bishop + weak queen’s pawn. My mind immediately went to a nearly identical endgame that was played in Moscow, 1935 between Salo Flohr and Jose Raul Capablanca. We explore both games in this video. #Chess #ChessInstruction
