The Berlin Endgame is supposed to be a very dry and at the same time a complex opening position to master! Great players like Vladimir Kramnik were able to bring down giants like Garry Kasparov with this opening. While the ideas are very subtle, there are certain overarching principles which is good for any chess player to know. One such principle is whether to keep the king on e8 or c8.
Taking the game Aronian vs Radjabov (Game 4 from day 1 of the finals of Airthings Masters) as the base, we discuss this extremely important concept of whether the black king belongs on e8 or c8. Soumya reveals the secret, while Anish builds up on it. What about Eesha Karavade and Peter Leko here? Check out the video to find out more.
