World champion Magnus Carlsen (NOR, 2864) won his first game of the 44th Chess Olympiad 2022 against Uruguay no.1 GM Georg Meier. In the second round, he was up against Italy no.1 GM Daniele Vocaturo (2616). It was the first time they faced each other in a tournament. How did they fare? Italy’s Captain was Dutch legend GM Loek van Wely.
