James Jayaraj is a former National Cities champion. He won the event in Bhopal and played the Asian Cities in Malaysia. Later he got his job as an Inspector of Police at Dindigul, Tamil Nadu. He did not get time to play chess anymore as he had to protect the people. Fate once again brought him to chess as he got deputed for Communications between Police to keep things in order at 44th Chess Olympiad 2022.
