IM Harshit Raja is a very balanced personality. He has an Elo of 2459 and two GM norms. He is hunting for his final GM norm. Being 20 years old, he could have devoted all his time to chess, but this IM from Pune prefers to balance things out in his life. Along with his chess career, he trying to complete his graduation in finance and economics (dual degree) from the university of Mizzou in the USA.
Harshit finished 10th at the Silver Lake Open 2021. In spite of bad health he managed a very good show at the tournament. He also beat a strong Serbian GM Nikola Sedlak in just 26 moves. In this interview Harshit analyzes this game for us and also tells us how he balances his chess with education. “We should not compare”, he says, “The race is with yourself!” Listen to this level headed boy and be inspired by his wisdom.
