2009-born, little Ilamparthi scored 7.0/9 at the closed GM Round Robin tournament in Ha Noi, Vietnam. The youngster showcased nerves of steel as he beat his higher rated opponent Fahad Rahman in the last round with the black pieces in a must-win scenario. Trained by GM Shyam Sundar and supported by Pravaha Foundation this is Ilamparthi’s second big achievement of 2023 after the youngster achieved his IM title.
