Under-14 World Champion Ilamparthi AR becomes the latest International Master from India
13-year-old Ilamparthi drew his 6th round game at the 21st Rochefort Masters 2023 against GM Nikolov Momchil to cross the 2400 rating barrier. He earned his first IM-norm at the Gligoric Memorial in Serbia , second norm was at the World Youth Championships 2022, Romania. His 3rd IM Norm came at the Sunway Sitges Chess Festival 2022. Finally, he crossed 2400 at the 21st Rochefort Chess Festival Masters 2023.
Ilamparthi is one of brightest young stars in India right now, and he has been growing in a rapid pace. The Chennai prodigy had a very successful 2022, here’s to an even better 2023! With 3 more rounds to go, he has scored 4.5/6 so far at Rochefort, France.
