India’s second GM in history, Dibyendu Barua has taken the responsibility of promoting chess. Instead of sitting on his laurels and relaxing after his active days as a competitor, he makes continuous efforts in organizing events for various level of players. The legend talks about having the highest number of participants at a National Under-7 Open and Girls event in the recently concluded 36th edition, Gukesh breaking Vishy Anand’s 37-year-old record as India no.1, the chess scene back then and now, the players’ strength at the National Under-7, being the President of Sara Bangla Daba Sangstha means hands-on involvement in a series of events in September – Tata Steel Chess Festival 2023 (four tournaments), 36th National Under-7 and the upcoming 4th DD-DBCA All India Rating Open 2023 and more.
