We first met Hans Niemann in person at the World Youth Championships (under-16) in Mumbai, India. He was the top seed with an Elo of 2439 and an International Master. Over the last year and a half a lot of players have been unable to show their potential due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but not Hans. From being 2478 in December 2020, he is now raced to 2606 as on August 2021.
He won the US World Open, US Juniors 2021 and has shown phenomenal improvement as a chess player. He is also a streamer and has a very active Twitch channel. He is also a chess trainer! How did Hans manage all of this together?
Earlier, when he was young Hans had also jumped from 1000 Elo to 2400 Elo in 3 years! So clearly he is not a stranger to huge improvements. How does he do this? We try to understand by talking to Hans and also analyzing his games.
