D. Gukesh played at the Gijon Round Robin in Spain before taking the Biel event where he will play in the Grandmaster Triathlon. The 16-year-old youngster was the top seed of the event and he crushed the field with a massive 8.0/9, gaining valuable Elo points and taking his FIDE rating to 2693. Gukesh was upset with his last round draw. If he would have won he would have reached 2697 perhaps! But it only remains a matter of time before the Chennai boy breaks into 2700 Elo zone! Will he be the 6th Indian after Anand, Sasikiran, Harikrishna, Vidit and Adhiban? Let’s wait and see, but as of now enjoy this video where you will see some brilliant bit of calculation and chess understanding shown by Gukesh.
