A massive open tournament is taking place in Karlsruhe, Germany. It has more than 3000 players there taking part in the Classical chess open in A, B and C categories and in the Freestyle chess open in the A, B, and C categories as well. The focus of this entire event is of course the Freestyle A group where we have 280 players and the top seed is Magnus Carlsen, followed by Arjun Erigaisi, Fabiano Caruana, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Aravindh Chithambaram, Wesley So, Hans Niemann and many other top players.
Format:
It will be 9 rounds of swiss league with a time control of 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment. There will be Grand Prix points for Freestyle Chess Tour, just like any other Freestyle Grand Slam Tour event.
Prize money:
Total Prize fund is US$225,000.
The players will also get Grand Slam tour points at this event. 1st place – 25 points, 2nd place 18 points, all the way up to 1 point for the 10th place.
