16-year-old Divya Deshmukh from Nagpur, Maharashtra becomes the National Champion of India. Divya scored 8.0/9 to win the title by a full point by beating strong players like Vaishali, Bhakti Kulkarni and many others. She gained 25 Elo points and takes home a mammoth prize of Rs.550,000 (US$7250). After winning the title Divya tweeted just one emoji – “☺”.
Since March 2020, Divya has played only three over the board events. Everyone was very curious as to why Divya wasn’t playing more. Maybe it was her academics, maybe it was preparation, whatever be the reason, it’s wonderful to see the fearless youngster make such a powerful comeback.
In this livestream Sagar Shah would ask some questions to Divya as well as go over her games from the tournament. We would also be taking questions from the live chat and some from the YouTube community section where the post has already been made.
