IM Divya Deshmukh has started off in fine style at the FIDE World Cup 2023. She beat Malaysian Azher Puteri in round 1 with a score of 1.5-0.5. In round 2 she was up against the strong Hungarian GM Hoang Thang Trang. The ratings (Divya on 2400, and Hoang on 2402) suggested that it would be an extremely close encounter. Divya managed to win the second game and took the match with a score of 1.5-0.5. In this interview she talks about the match and also about facing World no.3 Goryachkina in round 3.
