WGM Divya Deshmukh is just 17 years old but has already won the National title of India two times – in 2021 and 2022. The talented youngster from Nagpur, Maharashtra played some scintillating chess in Kolhapur at the National Championships 2022 to score 9.5/11 and win the event by half a point margin.
In this video, IM Sagar Shah speaks to Divya about her performance, her win against Bhakti Kulkarni, her intensely complex game against Isha Sharma and a few other snippets from her other encounters.
Divya was slated to play the World Rapid and Blitz 2022 in Kazakhstan, but she skipped the tournament and decided to play the National Championship. Her experience at the Ellobregat Open and Sitges Open 2022 helped her to win the title.
