I jump in to the 15-minute pool (no increment) on the ICC (Internet Chess Club – a throwback!) and get paired with a 2200+ rated opponent. White’s modest Colle-Zukertort setup doesn’t produce an advantage, but it gives me a good opportunity to play against the hanging pawn structure: a pair of side-by-side pawns with no fellow pawns on the outer edges, usually found on d4/c4 or d5/c5.. Care is required against this structure, as the side with the hanging pawns will always be looking to punch a pawn break through. However, if you can attack and bog this pawn duo down, the structure may collapse.
