Ding Liren was in a must-win situation in the final round of the Candidates 2022. He was up against Hikaru Nakamura. If Hikaru drew the game, he would finish 2nd. If Ding Liren beat Naka, he would get the 2nd spot. With Magnus Carlsen having not confirmed whether he would play the World Championship match or not, finishing 2nd was extremely important. It might mean that Nepo would face the 2nd placed player for the ultimate title. Check out this very instructive game with some amazing moves played by the Chinese GM.
