In this continuation of the “Climbing the Rating Ladder” series I take on players of various ratings levels while pointing out typical mistakes and spots for improvement along the way (possibly my own!? :)). Here I commentate a 5+5 game against a player rated 1844 on Chess.com. After some standard moves in a Hedgehog, White hesitates, burning valuable time with his light-square bishop. Meanwhile, I’m able to implement some important plans like …Be7-d8-c7 and …Re8-g8 followed by …g7-g5-g4. Although later analysis reveals White is OK, it is critical to develop a plan after you complete the opening phase (or, better yet, even *before* you complete the opening!). #Chess #ChessInstruction #ClimbingTheRatingLadder
