The Grand Chess Tour is a circuit of international events for the world’s best players. The legendary Garry Kasparov, one of the world’s greatest chess players, inspired the Grand Chess Tour.
The Croatia Grand Chess Tour is the 3rd event in the circuit. Vishy Anand will make his return to competitive chess for the first time since winning the Gold at the FIDE Online Olympiad 2020. He will be joined by his longtime rival Garry Kasparov (in the blitz). They will be competing with World Championship Challenger – Nepomniachtchi, Vachier-Lagrave, Grischuk, Superbet Chess Classic 2021 winner Mamedyarov, Anish Giri, Jorden van Foreest, Saric, Korobov and Duda.
7-9th of July is Rapid chess with 3 rounds each day and time control of 25mins + 10 sec increment. while blitz will be on the 10th and 11th of July and the time control will be 5mins+2secs increment.
The total prize fund for each of the Rapid and Blitz event is US$ 150000 with the first prize being US$ 37500.
9 rounds of Blitz today on 10th of July with 5 mins + 2 seconds increment. Garry Kasparov makes his debut in the Grand Chess Tour.
