Your time is running out! Pay attention to your chess clock, or you might lose on time!
Way before your grandparents were born, there was no such thing as a chess clock. Games could last for more than 10 hours. There was a game in 1843 between Howard Staunton and Pierre St. Amant that took more than 14 hours to finish! Can you believe that?
Well, we have other stuff to do, don’t we? Who has the time for those super long games anymore? That’s why chess clocks are so important. They give each player a maximum amount of time to play the game. If a player runs out of time, they lose!
In this video, FunMasterMike will tell you everything you need to know about chess clocks, how they work, the different types of clocks, and more.
Do you want to learn even more about the different types of chess clocks and why they are important? Then check out this article on ChessKid that goes over it.
