In the penultimate round of the Munich tournament of 1900, Harry Pillsbury lead the tournament by a half point and played back against the tail-ender Halprin. Pillsbury’s foe, Geza Maroczy, had spotted a massive improvement on a previous game in the tournament and coached Halprin on the stunning line used in today’s game.
