The U.S. Championship is a 12-player round-robin tournament taking place online from 26-29 October 2020 on Lichess. The prize fund is $150,000, with Hikaru Nakamura the favourite to win a 6th US title and the $40,000 top prize.
Players receive 25 minutes for the entire game, plus a 5-second increment starting from move one. A tie for 1st place will be determined by two 10+2 rapid games and, if still tied, an Armageddon game where White has 5 minutes to Black’s 4 but a draw counts as a win for Black.
