Don’t know the Benoni Defense? Watch this video to learn about this opening that even superstars like GM Fabiano Caruana and GM Maxime Vachier-Lagrave play!
The Benoni is an opening for Black to use when White plays d4 on their first move. Black responds by developing their knight to f6, and if White plays 2.c4, Black can play 2…c5.
There are many different variations of the Benoni Defense. There is the Czech Variation, the Old Benoni, the Modern Benoni, and even one called the Snake Variation! How cool is that?
In this video, the one and only FunMasterMike will teach you how to play this opening. He will also show you the Modern Benoni variation and explain Black’s main plans to win the game. Finally, he will show you how he found a tactic to win the game in this opening when he was just a junior player.
