At 52 She Won Double Gold for India | The Incredible Anjali Sagar and Family

At the 21st ASEAN+ Age Group Championships 2023, Seven out of nine medals were claimed by the members of the Sagar family. Anjali Sagar won four individual medals in the Senior 50 category. She earned Gold in Rapid, Silver in Standard, Gold in Blitz Women, and Bronze in Blitz Open. Her daughter, Siya Sagar was part of two Bronze and one Silver medal-winning Under-16 Girl’s team. We met them at the 29th Abu Dhabi Chess Festival where Anjali was participating with her two daughters and bagged some prizes as well.

Anjali was previously a National A player, but after marriage, she stopped playing, but now along with her two daughters, she is traveling the world and playing chess. The Sagar family is one of those unique families who are fully dedicated to chess.
