Anish Giri got a big advantage out of the opening against Nikita Vitiugov. But because of some inaccuracies, he lost his advantage. At this point he had a choice to go passive, or to go all out. The Dutch no.1 chose the latter and was all over his opponent. Vitiugov was unable to defend accurately and Anish Giri broke through. With this win Anish is on 2.0/2 at the Belgrade FIDE Grand Prix 2022 and now leads in Pool B with 1 full point.
