Arjun Erigaisi had played 24 games at Tata Steel Masters – 13 in 2023 and 11 in 2024 and hadn’t won a single game. His persistence bore fruit when in the 12th round of the event, he made a huge impact on the final standings by defeating Nodirbek Abdusattorov. The Uzbek GM was fighting for the 1st place at the event. With this win Arjun showed that even though he might not be in great form, he is still a force to be reckoned with.
