Failure is a common phenomena in chess and life. Yet, the frequency with which chess players have to deal with failure is so high that they soon begin to develop methods to handle it. No one is better than a top sportsman who has faced failure time and again and has bounced back to the top.
GM Anish Giri is the current world no.7 player. At the Tata Steel Masters 2021, he was just a couple of moves away from winning the title. But he blundered and that allowed his compatriot Jorden van Foreest to win it. For the viewers and fans of Anish this was gut-wrenching moment.
No one thought Anish would recover for at least a week. But there he was, the Dutch no.1 was back in public limelight within a couple of days. And he seemed in excellent mood. How does he do it? How does Anish Giri maintain his cool? IM Sagar Shah asked Anish these questions and this video acquaiints you some extremely insightful perspectives about success and failure through the eyes of a top class chess player.
