IM Nisha Mohota became the youngest WIM of India at the age of 14 years in 1995. She then became the first WGM of West Bengal. She became an IM as her peak rating was 2416. As on 2025 Nisha is now 44 years old and has an Elo of 2169. While it seems like age is catching up and the rating is going down, Nisha is unperturbed. She is working on her chess with all her might and recently at the National Team Championships 2025 for women, she managed to win 2 gold medals for her team PSPB. We thought this was the right time to speak with Nisha about her chess and how she manages to motivate herself through all the ups and downs!
