When you lose a game, you often go back home and check what went wrong. IM Sagar Shah did just that when he got into a tough position a few weeks ago from the black side of the Caro Kann. With his new opening knowledge, he felt confident against his opponent Bhabhatosh Chowdhury (Elo 1949) at the ChessBase India Chess Club. But when the position went past the opening stage, Sagar realized that he wasn’t comfortable. This happens all the time. You are not comfortable and all of a sudden you start making bad moves, even if the engine is shouting 0.00. Check out this game, where Black’s opening prep wasn’t enough.
