With her phenomenal performance at the National women’s championships 2022 Divya Deshmukh was the player to beat. But when a 2300+ player faces a 1300 rated player in the first round, one doesn’t imagine that there would be such a tough fight. This is exactly what happened as 13-year-old Darsh Shetty from Mumbai gave Divya an extremely hard time. And the way he played the endgame, was simply amazing! Trained in Mumbai by Prasad Ghate first and currently by Aleksandr Goloschappov, Darsh is way stronger than his rating suggests. Aditya Sur Roy, who is in Guwahati, caught up with him and interviewed the youngster.
